⭐ Situation + Task
Develop a heavy-duty paper roll transfer system for industrial use. The challenge was to ensure smooth torque transmission, mechanical stability, and cost efficiency, especially at the 90° transfer point.
⚙️ Action
Created free body diagrams (FBDs) and outlined force transmission logic.
Led the power screw system design and performed both static and dynamic analysis using Python, including buckling verification and self-locking conditions.
Researched and selected commercial components to meet design specifications.
Integrated SolidWorks models of gear and bearing assemblies from teammates into a complete 3D system, ensuring seamless function and proper torque path.
📈 Result
Delivered a final engineering report and full CAD model, which was praised for balancing cost and performance.
Meeting the safty factor >2.
Demonstrated improved system efficiency while staying within budget constraints, reduce total cost by 30%.
